I'm interested in buying a cheap (under $100) bluetooth headset for use with my Macbook running Leopard. I'll mostly be using it as headphones and for skype calls. My friend recommended things made by Plantronics but when I went to their site to check compatability, their answer was in pdf and wasn't accessible. So can anyone tell me if I can use their cheaper models with my Macbook? If not, can anyone please suggest another brand for me? I was told it would have to have something called a2dp in order to work properly on a computer. Btw, I'm not fanatical about sound quality. So long as it's clear and doesn't drop i'm fine.

Ok. So, you can definitely do it with any bluetooth headset. A2DP will give you betteeeer quality, but I used a cheapo Motorola and it worked fine. However, bluetooth headsets are optimized for telephone audio, so the quality is definitely terr

Ooh, this might be of interest to some. I just went to the Plantronics site again and found an easier way to check compatibility without going through the pdf. It has a guide there. When I told it I was using Mac OSX, it suggested I use a USB headset. Indeed, it didn't give me any other options. So I did a general search for bluetooth headset and Leopard and found this.

Apparently, many people have had problems with Skype and bluetooth headsets with Leopard. Granted, this thread is a bit old (2007) and it might have been fixed by now but I'm not too sure. So is there a way, other than bluetooth, to use a wireless headset? I know that there are cordless usb phones, so maybe, there's something similar here? I just hate dealing with cords. And what's the difference between a headset that connects using the mic and headphone jacks on your computer and a usb one anyway?

Oh no! Now I found three great ones and don't know which one I want! The first two seem exactly the same, except for price.

The last one has both the regular headphone jacks as well as the usb connection.

I actually remembered that I want to be able to use this thing with my y adaptor and patch cord, so perhaps it's better that I have the option to use the 3.5 mm jacks. But if that's the case, why do I need a usb connection, unless it's wireless? I did find one that was, but it was only for Windows.
